Learning the Value of Money Through Recycling

My brother John and his son go on recycling hunts together. John started going to the local parks in California to pick up recycling to earn money for vacations or fun money.

Josh started going with his dad every Thursday to spend time with his dad. Josh really got into the game and the money they earned.

Once they collect the recycling, they sort it out at home into bigger containers. Once they collect enough to fill the back of the car, they take it to the recycling center.

When they bring the money home, they put it into a special container. Josh learned to count by counting the money they received. He would work on his arithmetic with his dad, while figuring out what they earned. It made learning fun.
