One way to create a football theme party is to label your food with football jargon.  You don't have to spend a lot of money, just make your favorite snack and go.  For example:

  • 3rd and Long Hot Dogs
  • Touchdown Tamales
  • Hang Time Hamburgers
  • Goal Line Stand Guacamole
  • 4th Down Dip
  • Hail Mary Hoagies
  • Fumble French Fries
  • Audible Artichoke Dip
  • Pigskin Popcorn
  • Pooch Punt Potato Chips
  • Sack Dance Slaw
  • Wide out Wings
  • Offside Onion Dip

The possibilities are limitless.  Here is an excellent website of football terms that you can match to the food you are creating.  Football Glossary

Potluck Party

Have everyone bring a dish or an appetizer.  The essence of the party is to enjoy friends and the game.  So don't sweat on spending a lot of money.  One person can bring chips, another dip or salsa, etc..  With everyone chipping in the cost of the party will be minimal.

Shopping Tips

Plan your menu around what is on sale the few weeks before your party.   For example, one grocery store had a great sale on crescent rolls, tortilla chips, and cream cheese, while another big discount chain had a pound of hamburger on sale for 99 cents a pound.  With those items in mind, search for recipes you can make for guests.  Try hamburger sliders, or different layered dips, etc..  A few items could go a long way to feeding a crowd.

Do not forget to use coupons.  They can really add to your savings.
