Good Deeds

3rd Grader Gives Back: Starts Food Pantry for Pets

A 3rd grader, Zach Wilson loves animals.  If he could, he would adopt all the homeless animals so that they would have a home.

Even though Zach could not adopt all the homeless animals, he wanted to help.

He started with what he knew.

With the help of his mom, he began a food pantry in central Florida for pets.  If an owner could have free food, then they might not have to give up their pet.  So why not supply free food to those in need with pets?

Since it the pantry opened several months ago, they have given over 1,000 pounds of cat and dog food.  They have also started a small medical fund for vaccines for animals.

Kids Getting Busted For Doing Good Deeds

In Milan Michigan this summer,  police will stop children and give them a ticket for doing a good deed.  The ticket is for ice cream or a book, etc..

The ideas was generated by a Family Circle article from the 90's as a way to reward kids.

Consider implementing a program like this in your community.

Girl Scouts Create Disease Fighting Kits

A group of girl scouts in Seattle created AIDS and malaria fighting kits to send overseas.  This project is part of an overall initiative of the Girl Scouts World Thinking Day -- Stop the Spread of AIDS, malaria, and other diseases.
