Posted on May 14, 2009 at 12:32 pm

By reducing the number of energy vampires in your house you can save quite a bit of money each month. Below are several real life examples.

Deb in Central Florida -- Saved $56 in 4 months

The key was unplugging electric appliances in unused rooms.  Clock radios, portable phones,  and a TV.  More savings were realized the third month when she turned off the TV, DVD, Satellite System when not in use.  The electric power strip was very easy to turn off with one button.  Also by unplugging the coffee machine and toaster have brought in additional small savings.

Hi my name is Brittany.  In school we created boxes for Operation Christmas Child.  I thought it was kind of boring.  I mean "why waste the time and energy?  I have better things to do"  "These kids, I won't ever meet them, so it really doesn't affect me."  I did not have the best attitude about it.

My brother John and his son go on recycling hunts together. John started going to the local parks in California to pick up recycling to earn money for vacations or fun money.

Josh started going with his dad every Thursday to spend time with his dad. Josh really got into the game and the money they earned.

Once they collect the recycling, they sort it out at home into bigger containers. Once they collect enough to fill the back of the car, they take it to the recycling center.
